A Lecture by Belinda McKeon, Festival Curator
One More Folded Sunset: Mapping the Poem
Thursday 25th March at 1pm Free Event Advance Booking Recommended
Every poet comes from, and inhabits, a particular place, the terrain and the topography of which inevitably find their way into the poetic imagination - into the place, in quite a different sense, from which poems come. But what are the different ways in which contemporary poets grapple with questions of place, with questions of territory and with what the American poet Elizabeth Bishop - in the poem from which this lecture takes its title - called “Questions of Travel”?
In advance of the 2010 festival, the curator of dlr Poetry Now will give a talk on poetry and place, examining the cartography of the imagination as it manifests itself in the work of several of the poets from this year’s programme.
