Philip Gross, winner of this year’s
T.S. Eliot Prize, will present a special
programme of poetry for the children
involved in the dlr Poetry Now
Education Programme. The programme
is designed to introduce 8-10 year olds
to contemporary poetry and involves
a teachers’ workshop and a number of
pre and post festival school visits.
Philip Gross lives in Penarth in South Wales, UK, and is Professor of Creative Writing at Glamorgan University. He is a writer of many parts, and as well as his poetry, science fiction, opera and radio plays, he writes extensively for children and young people. His latest collection, The Water Table (Bloodaxe, 2009) won this year’s T.S. Eliot Prize.
His poetry for children includes Manifold Manor (1989), The All-Nite Cafe (1994, winner of the Signal Award), and Scratch City (1995), all from Faber. He has also published ten novels for young readers, most recently The Storm Garden (Oxford University Press, 2006).
